Thejakartatimes – Asrul Sani, Secretary General of the United Development Party (PPP), said his party has not yet officially provided support to Djarot Saiful Hidayat to advance in the election of North Sumatra governor in 2018.
By the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Struggle Indonesia (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri, Djarot paired with Sihar Pangaribuan Sitorus, as a candidate for vice governor.
But the PDI Perjuangan can not carry the couple Djarot-Sihar alone. PDIP must coalesce, for that to establish communication with PPP.
“PDI hopes that PPP will support Djarot, we must first socialize it down, because the process in bottom-up PPP, listen from below,” said Asrul when contacted by Tribunnews.com in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/1/2018) .
Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives said Djarot together with Sihar had a meeting with PPP management in PPP DPP yesterday.
“Yesterday the DPW of North Sumatra and some DPCs came to the DPP hoping that PDIP can carry the Muslim cawagubnya that’s it, that we communicate to the DPP PDI-P,” said Arsul.
He confirms that the problem has not provided support because the Djarot couples are not yet fit.
“(The problem is the candidate for vice governor) means that, of course we continue to communicate what, for example commitment to the Muslims there like what, the field of mental spiritual development, then physical related religious facilities and so on, that’s part we emphasize,” said Arsul.
As for Djarot himself claimed no problem. The matter is, PPP as muslin party said Arsul hope that carried in pilkada also Moslem.
“So, it is natural that the PPP of the Muslim party, as much as possible we in Muslim areas, mostly carry Muslims, but we also listen to the explanation of the PDI Perjuangan, why? Because the voters of Pak Sihar, among others, in North Sumatra 30 percent non-Muslims,” said Arsul. (Thejakartatimes/Elv/Source: Tribun)
