Thejakartatimes – The Hand Capture Operation (OTT) on the indiscriminate garbage disposal that was intensified by the Environment Agency (DLH) of DKI Jakarta has resulted quite significantly to the regional treasury.
Throughout this year, OTT fines collected from garbage disposal have reached Rp 64 million.
Head DLH Jakarta, Isnawa Adji said, not all citizens who netted OTT is subject to fines. Some of the perpetrators were only given light sanctions because they were children.
“OTT if in terms of value is Rp 64 million, from the side of the perpetrator has more than 700 offenders that we follow,” he said, Tuesday (19/9).
Isnawa pointed out during the implementation of Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB), many of the children caught throwing away any garbage. They were then only asked to pick up their garbage and sing Indonesia Raya.
“So the most important thing is to educate,” he said.
According to Isnawa, his side also routinely distributes sacks to residents who are on the banks of the river. The goal is that residents no longer throw garbage into the river and collect it through sacks.
“We educate the people there, we put the sacks so they do not dispose of garbage at times, we will haul the sack later,” he said.
He added that throughout 2016, fines from OTT results collected reached Rp 201 million. The funds are then deposited to the local treasury.
As is known, based on the Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 3 of 2013 on Waste Management, residents who throw garbage on the road or sidewalks can be subject to a maximum fine of Rp 100,000.
While residents who throw garbage into the river or time is fined a maximum of Rp 500,000.
