Thejakartatimes – The Ministry of Finance of the Directorate General of Customs along with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) thwarted 40 kilogram sabu smuggling from Penang, Malaysia.
“We are open in early 2018 with the act of smuggling of shabu-shabu in Aceh with 40 kg confiscation,” said Sri Mulyani, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani at Head Office of Directorate General of Customs and Excise, East Jakarta, Friday (1/19/2010).
He said the arrests were made from intelligence information on January 9, 2018. Then, the customs patrol team conducted a sweep and speedboat pursuit in the waters of Ide Rayuek, East Aceh.
Upon this disclosure, Sri asked BNN and Customs to increase their vigilance. Because, since 2017, an increase in the frequency of drug smuggling.
“In 2017 and then we took action 325 cases, up from 2016 which only 286 cases,” said Sri.
In 2017, 2,132 kg of drugs were confiscated. This number increased from 2016, a total of 1,169 kg.
“From this data shows that Indonesia is no longer a transit point for drugs, but the target market because now the economy is starting to increase,” he said.
BNN chief Komjen Budi Waseso said the shabu comes from the Malaysian-Aceh network.
